SENATOR JASON PLUMMER HOSTED ANNUAL YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

(EDWARDSVILLE) State Senator Jason Plummer welcomed around eighty (80) students from 18 high schools in the 55th Senate District for his annual Youth Advisory Council held earlier this month at the Kaskaskia College Education Center in Vandalia. Several guest speakers shared with the students their stories, suggestions, and the importance of being involved in their communities. Then the students were brought together to create new legislative ideas with the plan for the students to meet again at the State Capitol next spring to be assigned legislative roles with the chance to debate the bill they created. After multiple presentations and rounds of voting, the students overwhelmingly chose a bill that would cut and dramatically reform Illinois’ estate tax to help family-owned farms and businesses.
