(SPRINGFIELD) More than 740,000 registered Illinois voters have already cast a ballot. While the election is now less than two weeks away, data from the State Board of Elections shows of the 8 million active registered voters in the Land of Lincoln, more than 1.1 million people requested a mail-in ballot with nearly 432,000 returned as of yesterday. 305,000 votes have been cast early. The polls will be open from 6:00 t0 7:00 on November 5th.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Attorney General’s Office is warning that flood-damaged vehicles from recent hurricanes Helene and Milton may soon appear on the used car market, taking advantage of the nationwide vehicle shortage. Thousands of vehicles were flooded across southeastern states and some sellers may try to hide the damage through extensive cleaning and moving the vehicles through multiple states to conceal their history. (SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office is encouraging nearly 140,000 residents around the state to cash their unclaimed property checks that are arriving in the mail. The checks went out as part of the latest round of the Enhanced Money Match program, which allows the Treasurer’s Office to automatically return missing money to people without the need to file a claim. (CHICAGO) For the 10th straight year, Chicago is being noted as the most rat-infested city in America. According to the pest control company Orkin, the Windy City’s infrastructure contributes to its dubious distinction, including an abundance of alleys where the rodents have plenty of space to hide and feast on trash. Also on the national list in Los Angeles claiming the second spot, followed by New York City at number three. While St. Louis is not on the list, Indianapolis is at number 15 and Champaign comes in at number 44.
