At the recent Jasper County Board meeting in Newton, several key decisions and updates were shared:
- The Board approved the payment of December bills totaling $308,812.
- An update was provided on the County’s Flag Design Contest. While public voting has concluded, the Board is now awaiting recommendations from the Flag Design Commission, expected next month.
- The Board approved a proposal from Federal Appraisal LLC regarding the assessment of the Newton Power Station. The county’s share of the first phase of the project will amount to $6,400.
- The new mini excavator for the County Highway Department has been delivered. The $119,000 bid was awarded to Dittamore Implement Company of Teutopolis.
- Updates were given by various county offices.
- The Board also discussed health insurance options for county employees before adjourning.
The next regular meeting of the Jasper County Board is scheduled for February 20th, 2025.
