ADDITIONAL WEATHER INFORMATION

(NEWTON/OLNEY) The National Weather Service has now cancelled the Tornado Watch it issued at 5:00 this morning that originally listed twenty-one regional counties in our listening area. Since 5:30 this morning, the National Weather Service issued nine weather statements, including a tornado warning for Jasper and Effingham Counties, along with eight severe thunderstorm warnings for the counties of Richland, Jasper, Effingham, Crawford, Clark, Clay, Wayne, Edwards, Wabash, and Lawrence. The storms brought heavy amounts of rain, some hail, dangerous lightning, and wind gusts up to 30 to 40 miles-per-hour, which resulted in multiple power outages in the area, due to blown over utility poles and trees. No injuries reported so far.

(OLNEY) Also, it was yesterday afternoon that the record high temperature at the WVLN-WSEI National Weather Service weather station was tied with an 80 degree reading on March 10th at the south edge of Olney. The record high was originally set on March 10th 36 years ago in 1990.
