(BLOOMINGTON) The Illinois State Pest Survey is reporting the first trappings of the year of cutworm moths. While the insects are temperature dependent, the survey shows the current numbers of moths are low until the real warm up comes to Illinois in the weeks ahead. Historic data shows the first cutting dates for cutworms typically fall in May and June. Farmers are encouraged to get out and scout fields through the early growing season.
