There will also be a few service members from the 5th Civil Support Team, based in Bartonville, and the 126th Air Refueling Wing, based at Scott Air Force Base, also helping out. The troops are expected to support the federal task force by conducting site security around the Capitol building.
(INDIANAPOLIS) Some Indiana lawmakers have taken steps to absorb the Illinois counties that have voted to leave the Land of Lincoln. In the November 5th election, seven Illinois counties joined more than 20 others to greenlight a proposal to explore splitting from the state. Madison County, in the Metro East, became the first nonrural county to pass the referendum. As part of their 2025 agenda, some Indiana lawmakers have introduced a bill in the Indiana Legislature that would create the Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission, which would study whether to recommend accepting those Illinois counties that want to secede from the State of Illinois.
(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois EPA has announced a new partnership with the group “Recycle Coach” to provide all Illinois residents in over 6,000 units of local government an easy-to-access recycling education platform. Officials say using the program will decrease inbound contamination at material recovery facilities throughout Illinois, plus increase the amount of material diverted from Illinois landfills and prevent environmental contamination.
