(FLORA) The investigation continues in Clay County after a single motorcycle traffic crash occurred shortly after 5:00 last evening (Wednesday) approximately one (1) miles north of Edgewood Road, northwest of Iola. After receiving the call at 5:18 and upon arrival, after the initial investigation, a Farina man was pronounced deceased at the scene. County Coroner Bryce Henry says it appears that 60 year old Ronnie L. Merritt was traveling southbound on Edgewood Road when he came upon a curve and for unknown reasons lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the road into the ditch and was ejected from the bike. An autopsy has been scheduled to help determine the exact cause of death. Assisting the Coroner’s Office at the scene were the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Farina Fire & Rescue, the Farina EMS, and the Illinois State Police. No further information is available at this time.
