(NEWTON) The Jasper County School Board of Education met last night for its regular monthly meeting in April in Newton. The Board : approved the payment of March bills as presented : established a budget hearing for the FY24 Amended Budget for June 17th at 6:20 prior that month’s regular meeting : approved the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Clay-Jasper-Richland-North Wayne Delivery System for 2024-2025 school year : approved the Little Illini Conference recommendation for officials pay for the 2024-2025 school year : awarded the Food School Management Contract for the Jasper County School District to OPAA for $433,425 : approved the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Club for the NES 6th grade students : heard an update on the Student Resource Officer position for the District with plans to start in the 2024-2025 school year : and in personnel – approved the retirement resignations from Lora Semple as a Kitchen Manager at NCHS/JCJH and from Angie Probst as a District Paraprofessional – approved resignations from Sheryl Brummer as a NCHS Business Teacher and FBLA Sponsor at NCHS, from Weston Peno as JCJH/NCHS Dean of Students and as JCJH Athletic Director, from Heather Kistner as a NES Full-Time Substitute Teacher, and from Jennifer Eaton as a Speech Language Pathologist – agreed to hire Eric Qualls as a NES Special Education Teacher – and agreed to advertise for several positions for the 2024-2025 school year : the Board’s next regular meeting will be May 20th.
