(NEWTON) In junior high postseason baseball yesterday, several area teams competed in the IESA Regional first-round action:
Class 1A
- North Clay defeated Altamont, 11-8
- Kinmundy South Central beat Mulberry Grove, 12-0
- Beecher City won against Findlay Okaw Valley, 5-2
- Paris Crestwood triumphed over Chrisman Scotland, 14-0

- No score available for Mattoon St. John’s vs. Palestine
Class 2A
- Stewardson-Strasburg bested Dieterich, 12-2
- Lawrenceville Parkview defeated Paris Mayo, 11-1
Class 3A
- Charleston edged out Newton/Jasper County, 6-5
- Mt. Zion beat Robinson, 4-2 (The Raiders conclude a successful season at 14-3, 8-0 LEIC)
- Tolono Unity narrowly defeated Effingham, 6-5
The remaining first-round games will take place today, with Regional Semi-Final games scheduled for today or tomorrow. Most Championship games are set for Saturday. For updates, visit the IESA website at iesa.org.
(OLNEY) In the SIJHSAA Region 4 Class L Regional at Mt. Carmel, the schedule has been adjusted. The two Semi-Final games will now be held today instead of tomorrow:
- The Middle School Cubs will face Carmi at 4:00 PM.
- Host Mt. Carmel will play Flora afterward, around 6:00 PM.
The Championship game is scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:00 AM in Mt. Carmel.
(OLNEY) In the SIJHSAA Region 8 Class S Regional, first-round action is set for today:
- Allendale-St. Mary’s will host West Salem.
- Cisne will take on Clay City.
- Jasper will face New Hope in Fairfield.
Undefeated Olney St. Joe receives a first-round bye, with Semi-Finals scheduled for tomorrow.
