(NEWTON) The Newton City Council met in regular session this past Tuesday night. The Council : authorized the sale of Lot 11 in Five Aprils Crossing : approved an ordinance to amend the pay schedule for the Billing Clerk Department Head to $25.99 per hour : agreed to write off uncollectible debt in the amount of $14,157 for 41 different utility accounts that closed from 2008 to 2017 : approved a Grant Writing Services Agreement with South Central Illinois Regional Planning & Development Commission for a Community Facilities Grant to aid in the purchase of a new or used police vehicle : come to an agreement with residents along Davis Street concerning the use of the street during games at the nearby ball fields : and took no action after an executive session to discuss real estate and personnel : the next regular meeting for the Newton City Council will be Tuesday night, February 20th, at 6:00.
