(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Agricultural Prices Report for October : the Ag Production Index decreased 6.5% from September and was down 1.1% from October 2023 : the Crop Production Index dropped 9.0% from the month before and was down 14% from the previous year : the Livestock Production Index increased 6.0% from September and was up 17% from October last year : producers received lower prices in October for soybeans, onions, milk, and potatoes, but higher prices for market eggs, cattle, lettuce, and calves. Also in October, there was decreased monthly movement for cattle, milk, broilers, and market eggs in Illinois, but increased marketing of soybeans, corn, cotton, and calves.
