(OLNEY) Congratulations to an Olney FFA member for being selected as a candidate for the 2024-2025 Illinois FFA Major State Officer Team. Trenton Payne, the son of Shad and Diane Payne of Olney, earned the distinction of being named one of the ten candidates after going before a committee of agriculture industry friends, media & collegiate leaders, past State FFA Officers, and current FFA members last Saturday at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. All of the candidates chosen completed a series of practicums, including a general interview, a prepared speech, an impromptu scenario, a facilitation exercise, a group activity, a letter writing exercise, and a test about Illinois agricultural education. Payne is now eligible to be elected one of the five Illinois FFA Major State Officer positions of President, Vice-President, Reporter, Secretary, or Treasurer at the 96th Annual Illinois FFA State Convention on June 13th in Springfield.
