(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met in regular session last night. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : after weeks of review, approved the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year Budget as presented : agreed to designate funds for Capital Expenditures, including $200,000 to street & road improvements and $175,000 for sewer system improvements : approved the $9,234 purchase of a riding mower for the Water Plant from Sparks & Sons east of Oblong : approved a revised Facade Grant Program Application whereas all colors and signs must be approved by the City in advance : approved exceptions for an Illinois Bass Nation Youth Fishing Tournament to be held on East Fork Lake later this fall, whereas the catch size limit is lowered to 12 inches and the amount of boats allowed to participate is increased from 30 to 60 : discussed, but took no action on only one bid received for the City’s sale of property at 1440 North Silver Street : after an executive session to discuss real property, negotiations, and personnel, the Council approved a 3-year agreement with the IBEW Local 702 involving public works personnel : approved wages for City’s non-bargaining employees and approved health insurance premium allocations for the non-bargaining City employees : and noted a few updates – bridge work is continuing on both Elliott and East Streets – the North Avenue waterline replacement work is continuing – and the Scott Street storm sewer work continues : the next regular Olney City Council meeting will be May 11th, 2026 : the Council will have a special meeting tomorrow (4/29/26) afternoon at City Hall at 4:00 with the purpose to discuss possible sale of property at 1440 North Silver Street.
