RICHLAND COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL BOARD NOVEMBER MEETING RECAP

The Richland County School Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on November 19th in Olney. Key actions taken during the meeting included:

  • Financial Reports: The Board approved the October financial report, which included a monthly bill listing totaling $2,267,409.
  • Tax Levy: The Board approved the Tentative 2024 Tax Levy.
  • Health/Life Safety Survey: The Ten-Year Health/Life Safety Survey for the Middle and Elementary Schools was approved.
  • Lighting Installation: The Board authorized the purchase and installation of lighting at the Middle School, totaling $36,155, through Pals Electric.
  • Dual Credit Courses: An additional list of Dual Credit Courses offered at Olney Central College was approved.
  • Nursing Building Donation: No action was taken on a proposed donation to the Nursing Building project at Olney Central College due to a lack of motion.
  • District Architect Search: The Board received an update on the search for a new District Architect.
  • Fuel Bids: The Board agreed to seek bids for the District’s fuel needs.
  • School Report Card: The Board reviewed the 2024 School Report Card, noting the Middle and High Schools were rated as “Commendable,” while the Elementary School received an “Exemplary” rating.
  • Recognition: The Board recognized several RCHS sports and extracurricular teams for their achievements this fall and also acknowledged the RCES Legacy Team.

    • Dakotah Brown, RCHS Assistant Boys Basketball Coach
    • Brenda Stallard, RCHS Head Volleyball Coach
  • The Board approved the hiring of:
    • Ashley Travous, Special Education Paraprofessional
    • Kaylee Hemrich, RCES Supervision Aide
  • The Board also approved 24 volunteers for coaching and extracurricular activities, including one at the Middle School and 23 at the High School.
