The Richland County School Board has appointed Mrs. Christina VanMatre as the next Alternative Education Director, a role she will officially assume at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Mrs. VanMatre’s Background in Education:
- 2001: Began her career as a Language Arts Teacher in Owensboro, Kentucky
- 2005: Moved to Olney and worked as a substitute teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School
- 2007: Hired as an English Teacher at Richland County High School
- Over the past 18 years, she has taught English at all levels, as well as Creative Writing, Modern Literature, Speech, and Dual Credit courses
- Also served as a girls basketball coach at various levels
- 24 years of experience in education, with 20 years dedicated to Richland County students
Mrs. VanMatre’s extensive teaching experience and commitment to student success make her a strong fit for this leadership role.
