(MATTOON) in Boys High School Track & Field from yesterday –
there were thirteen teams that competed at the Mattoon Invitational Meet
Mt. Zion ran away with the meet, beating out second place Marion, 140 to 86.5
just two points back in third place was Charleston (84.5)
Danville slipped by Effingham by two points for fourth place, 69 to 67
Urbana nosed out Olney for sixth place by a half point, 42 to 41.5
rounding out the top ten were Taylorville (40), Teutopolis (32.5), and Mattoon (30)
then Decatur MacArthur and Decatur Eisenhower tied at 27, followed by Newton (15)
Olney won one of the eighteen events with five other top five finishes
Gavyn Cothern won the high jump
Aiden Germak was 2nd in the 400 meter dash
Maverik Cordell was 2nd in the pole vault
Guillermo Tartalo, Aiden Germak, Gavyn Cothern, & Ian Pianfetti / 4th / 400 meter relay
Carter Seaman was 5th in the 400 meter dash
Ryan Kirby tied for 5th place in the long jump
Newton had two top five finishes among the eighteen events
Hayden Borgic, Henry Will, Parker Harris, & Tanner Whitaker / 3rd / 1600 meter relay
Hayden Borgic, Johnnie Brant, Tanner Whitaker, & Parker Harris / 3rd / 3200 meter relay
the Tigers are back in action tomorrow at Edwardsville
the Eagles will host Olney, Robinson, Teutopolis, and others next Monday
