YESTERDAY’S ILLINOIS CROP PROGRESS REPORT (10/16/2024)

(SPRINGFIELD) In yesterday’s USDA Illinois Crop Progress Report, there were 6.9 days suitable for fieldwork on average last week around the state. Illinois’ statewide average temperature was 61.2 degrees last week, 5.5 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged zero (0.00 inches) last week, 0.53 inches below normal. As of this past Monday, mature corn around Illinois reached 97% (compared to the 5-year average of 89%) and corn harvested hit 49% (compared to the 5-year average of 44%). Soybeans dropping leaves hit 93% (compared to the 5-year average of 91%) and soybeans harvested was at 62% (compared to the 5-year average of 47%). Both crops remain mostly in good to excellent conditions around the state, corn at 76% and soybeans at 70%. Winter wheat planted around the state hit 33% (compared to the 5-year average of 39%).
